This standard specifies Bridges that interconnect individual Local Area Networks (LANs), each supporting the IEEE 802 MAC service using a different or identical media access control method, to provide Bridged Networks and Virtual LANs (VLANs).
Bridges, as specified by this standard, allow the compatible interconnection of information technology equipment attached to separate individual LANs.
This standard incorporates IEEE Std 802.1Q™-2011, IEEE Std 802.1Qbe™-2011, IEEE Std 802.1Qbc™-2011, IEEE Std 802.1Qbb™-2011, IEEE Std 802.1Qaz™-2011, IEEE Std 802.1Qbf™-2011, IEEE Std 802.1Qbg™-2012, IEEE Std 802.1aq™-2012, IEEE Std 802.1Q™-2011/Cor 2-2012, and IEEE Std 802.1Qbp™-2014.
