Overview

The end work product of the IEEE 802.15 Layer 2 Routing (L2R) Study Group is the generation of a PAR and 5c for a project on Layer 2 (Mesh Under Routing).

Current Status

Interest and active participation in the L2R activity continues, with an average of 20 attendees, representing more than 15 different entities on average at each of the last 6 sessions.

The first meeting of L2R as a Study Group occurred at the January 2013 Interim Session in Vancouver. During this session, the group drafted a Problem Statement along with a Preliminary Working Title, Scope and Purpose. At the March 2013 Plenary Session in Orlando, the L2R Study Group generated a draft PAR and 5c, based on the preliminary work done in the January Session. At the May 2013 Interim Session in Waikoloa, the L2R Study Group finalized and submitted the draft PAR and 5c to the 802.15 WG for approval. The PAR and 5C were approved by the 802.15 WG and have since been forwarded to the EC for review and approval.

Future Efforts

The next meeting of L2R as a Study Group will be at the July 2013 Plenary Session in Geneva. The SG will address comments and feedback from the 802 EC review and then present the finalized PAR and 5c for approval at the Closing 802 EC session on Friday afternoon.
