Subject: [STDS-802-16-MOBILE] Seeking HARQ MAP clarifications

Hi,

I would be obliged if anyone clarifies the following issues regarding HARQ MAP allocations.

1) In the HARQ Map, the location of the HARQ region is not clear. If it is assumed that the HARQ region is the burst that contains the HARQ_MAP as specified by the HARQ_MAP pointer IE, then it has to be assumed that the HARQ_MAP_ pointer IEs occur after zone switch IEs for allocations in separate zones. Also it has to be assumed that the HARQ_MAP_IE burst is the first burst in the respective zones. In this case the SUB_DL_MAP will not be the first burst in the zone, which violates the specification in 16eD8.
There is no region called "HARQ region."  Only HARQ ACK region exists.
The burst which contains HARQ MAP follows directly after the compressed MAP even though HARQ_MAP_Pointer IE occurs after zone switch IE.
Hence, it shall always be in the same region as the comprssed MAP.
Sub-MAP and HARQ MAP shall not exist together in same frame.

2) It is specified that for band-AMC allocations made by H-ARQ map message, an AMC slot will consist of 6 contiguous bins in a same logical band. Accordingly 6 bins x 1 symbol and 3 bins x 2 symbols subchannel definitions are made and these types are specified in the format configuration IE. But an AMC logical band has 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 bins. In case of 4 bins the 6 bins x 1 symbol does not fit at all. In the other cases the subchannels do not fit exactly (some gaps remain). If it is assumed that subchannels wrap around to the next symbol as it appears to be for the 6x1 configuration in the corrigendum, then the subchannel definitions will change, for e.g. 6 bin x 1 symbol will actually span 2 symbols. Moreover such a wrap around is not specified for the 3 bins x 2 symbols configuration, which also does not fit exactly in the band.

5) The safety subchannel in the HARQ Map is specified in terms of bins; therefore it appears to be used only in an AMC zone. If the safety subchannels allocation is modulated, what is the slot configuration to be used for the safety subchannel? If it is the same as the band AMC slot configuration then only the 1x6 slot configuration can be used, as the bins in a safety subchannel are not contiguous as per the Format Control IE

6) The safety subchannel has a CID and modulation/coding specified in case of HARQ map in both downlink and uplink, whereas in the normal MAP, safety zones are allocated only in the uplink and are not modulated

7) The SUB_MAPs, HARQ DL MAP IE and related sub-burst IEs in the 16e draft seem to resolve these issues and provide the same functionality as the HARQ MAP. Is there any specific advantage of using the HARQ MAP instead of the HARQ DL MAP IE.
