Important information for all potential 802 attendees:
a) The Hilton Head Marriott Beach & Golf Resort (formerly the Hyatt Regency
Hilton Head) in Hilton Head, South Carolina, is the site for the upcoming
March 2001 IEEE 802 Plenary Meeting. The special IEEE 802 room block is
NEARLY SOLD OUT! Please call the Marriott Toll-Free Room Reservations at
(800) 228-9290 and request to be put onto the IEEE 802 WAIT-LIST, if they do
not have availability for the dates you need. Our group has 5-10%
cancellations, and the hotel will contact you when rooms become available.
You may also wish to call the hotel during the 2 weeks prior to the start of
the Plenary Meeting to check the status of your reservation request. If you
made your room reservation with the Hyatt Regency Hilton Head, please call
the new 800# for Marriott Hotels, to confirm your room reservations. The
special IEEE 802 rates are $165.US/night single or double/twin occupancy.
Room reservations may be canceled without penalty up until 48-hours prior to
arrival date. The
Hilton Head Marriott Beach & Golf Resort is located 4 miles from the Hilton
Head Commuter Airport or an hour drive from Savannah International Airport.
Hotel self-parking for in-house guests and other visitors is complimentary.
Please note - the hotel's web site is currently not available, however,
please call the hotel directly at (843) 686-8400 for further information.
b) We have arranged for overflow rooms at the Hilton Oceanfront Resort,
which is right next door to the Marriott. Guest rooms are very limited, so
please call ASAP to ensure a room reservation. The special IEEE 802 rates
of $171.00/night single occupancy and $196.00/night double/twin occupancy
are based on space availability. The reservation cut-off date is Sunday,
February 11, 2001. Room reservations may be canceled without penalty up
until 7 days prior to arrival date and time, if you receive a wait-list room
at the Marriott, or if your plans should change. For Reservations contact

Hilton is located at: 23 Ocean Lane, Hilton Head, SC. 29928. This is <
5-minute walk to and from the Marriott hotel. Parking is complimentary.

c) We have arranged for airport shuttle transfers from Low Country
Adventures. Please call: (800) 845-5582, fax: (843) 681-6716 or email to:
info@lowcountryadventures.com to make your reservations. The rates are as
follows: $45. per person/round trip from the Savannah Airport and $20. per
person/round trip from the Hilton Head Airport. Reservations must be made
at least 24 hours in advance and are required to guarantee a seat and
receive the group discount rate. . Low Country Adventures are located in
the North Baggage Claim Area at the Savannah Airport. Flights arriving
after 11:30pm are not served without reservations. The travel time to
Hilton Head Island is approx. 60 minutes.
d) Please note: There will be NO 802 Closing Plenary on Friday, March
16th. Instead the 802 Working Group summary reports will be posted on the
802 website by Friday afternoon for your viewing pleasure. See:

be via email.
e) IEEE Standards Board will meet at this location on Thursday, Friday and
Saturday. This is an opportunity for you to observe the Standards Board in
action. All 802 attendees are welcome to attend the IEEE Standards Board
meetings.
