Subject: [STDS-802-16] [NETMAN][LM] Launching "Legacy Messages" Ad Hoc Group

Hello,

This is announcement on launching "Legacy messages" Ad Hoc Group created by
Netman.
Scope: "BS-to-BS messages" as specified in Annex D of IEEE P802.16e/D4,
August 2004,
see IEEE 802.16netman-05/003.

According to 802.16 rules/tradition,
- Ad Hoc Group exists for period between 802.16 WG sessions
- Output of Ad Hoc will be reported to Netman. It may include a motion or
comment[s]
which will be discussed / voted at Session #36 as any other motion /
comment. So
Ad Hoc may prepare text, but acceptance of the text is at the discretion of
Netman group.
- any participant of Session #35 may participate in Ad Hoc

Typically decisions are based on consensus, but if Chair calls for vote
- each member of Ad Hoc has one vote
- decisions are based on simple majority of those participated in voting.

For communication over 802.16 reflector stds-802-16@ieee.org please begin
subject line
with "[NETMAN][LM]".

First action is to sign up. Please respond to this letter if you want to
participate in Ad Hoc Group
and provide your contact information.

Your input is welcome and appreciated.

I call for discussion on the following question

Question #1.
What will be the scope of Ad Hoc in terms of sections in IEEE P802.16e/D4?

Chair's recommendation for Question #1
Limit the scope to D.1.1, D.1.2 ["Backbone network HO procedures"] and D2
["Inter-base station message formats"].
This does not preclude from adding new messages.

Please respond before deadline Feb 18.

Thanks

Vladimir Yanover, Ad Hoc Chair
