[STDS-802-16] Fwd: [802SEC] FW: 3 Liaison Statements from ITU-R Working Party 5A

IEEE has been notified by ITU-R Working Party 5A of three liaison statements, sent to multiple "external organizations". I have filed the message below (with hyperlinks to the statements) as IEEE L802.16-08/081.

Document 93 (regarding the revision of M.1801) may be of particular interest to 802.16, since we previously submitted a contribution (IEEE L802.16-08/040r1) toward that revision.

As Mike notes, responses could be concluded at the March IEEE 802 Plenary (802.16 Session #60), but the 802.16 WG may wish to develop material at Session #59.

Dear EC,

IEEE 802 has received three liaison statements from ITU-R WP5A. The
first is a request for inputs for Recommendation ITU-R M.1801 dealing
with radio interface standards for broadband wireless access (BWA)
systems, including mobile and nomadic applications, in the mobile
service operating below 6 GHz. The second invites a review of
preliminary BWA characteristics for use in compatibility studies with
fixed satellite service (FSS) systems in the 3400 - 3600 MHz band. The
third is an invitation for contributions on a proposed draft new report
dealing with radio interface standards that could be used for public
protection and disaster relief (PPDR) in the 746 - 806 MHz band in
Region 2 (the Americas) and some countries in Region 3 (Asia pacific).

Since the attachments would have exceed the permitted size of this
reflector I have posted them to the 802.18 Mentor web site as Docs. 93,
94 and 95.

Any response needs to be submitted to ITU-R by 11 May.  These liaison
statements may be considered at the January interim meeting and March
plenary meetings. The due date in Geneva coincides with the start of the
May wireless interim so it seems best to complete any responses by the
end of the March plenary..

Regards,

Mike
