Really sorry to hear.

Jim was a great person with a warm heart and a enthusiastic attitude. He was very unassuming and showed exemplary humility.

He was also visionary and helped take 802 to places it had not been before, in his own ways.

He will definitely be missed. May his soul rest in peace.

Dear 802.16,

I'm sorry to report the death of Jim Carlo. Jim was a great friend, a great man, and a big part of the success 802.16. Jim was the Chair of the IEEE 802 Executive Committee when I first became interested in standards. He warmly welcomed 802.16 into the fold and was a tremendous mentor to me in getting the Working Group launched. Later, after moving on to other leadership roles in IEEE Standards (including President of the IEEE-SA), Jim became active as a participant in the 802.16 Working Group, holding a membership from 2005-2009.

Jim was a brilliant standardization builder, leader, and innovator. He was also as nice and warm a guy as you'll ever meet. I salute him.

Roger

Dear EC Members,

It is with a heavy heart I must let you know I just found out late tonight Jim Carlo passed away.  I recently spoke to him--he was not doing to well, but hanging in there as best he could in his battle with cancer.  For those of you that new him, he was a great representative of 802 and the Standards Association, and a mentor to me.  I will miss him.  Rest in peace James T. Carlo--the 802 community shall mourn for you.

Sadly,

--Paul

Dear Token Ringers,
This is a sad email.  I just heard from Muffy Carlo that Jim Carlo has passed away.  I spoke with Jim shortly before Christmas after hearing from Muffy that he had been battling cancer for two years.  He was in good spirits, but obviously in deteriorating health.
I thoroughly enjoyed working closely with him for many years and will miss him.
I wanted to let those of you that knew him and worked with him to know and to spread the word to others that would want to know.
Bob Love
