The Colorado Institute of Technology (CIT) was founded in March 2000 to significantly increase the number of students graduating in IT disciplines in Colorado by:

CIT will be a privately funded enterprise. Seed capital is being raised from the private sector.

CIT Board Chairman Marc Holtzman serves in the Cabinet of Governor Bill Owens as Colorado's first Secretary of Technology. Secretary Holtzman is responsible for the Governor's Office of Innovation and Technology. In addition, Secretary Holtzman is Co-Chairman of the Governor's Commission on Science and Technology.
