802.16 Session #15 Travel and Transportation

Session #15 of the IEEE 802.16 Working Group on Broadband Wireless Access will take place 10-14 September 2001 at the Denver Marriott Southeast in Denver, Colorado, USA. The hotel is 26 miles (30-45 minutes by car) from Denver International Airport and provides free parking. This hotel was the site of 802.16's Session #2 and Session #9.

Air Travel
Denver International Airport is one of the world's largest and most advanced airports. The official airport code name is DEN, though locals refer to it as "DIA".

Colorado Springs Airport is 60 miles and 70 minutes away.

Airfare Discounts

Shuttle from Denver International Airport
SuperShuttle will provide service at a group discount rate of $27 round trip (the regular price is $17 each way/$30 round trip) if you mention "IEEE" at the DIA ticket counter. Shuttles serve this route every 15 minutes from 5:00 am - 6 pm, and then as needed through midnight. They return to the airport every half hour from 5 am through 5 pm and afterwards by reservation; the schedule shows a 60 minute trip.

To buy a ticket, look for the SuperShuttle booth on the west side of the terminal (Level 5) as you exit the train from the concourses. SuperShuttle pick-up is located on Lane 3; use door 507 or 510. You shouldn't need to use the map.

You do not need advance reservations to get to the hotel, but you should have them for your return. You will receive a schedule of return trips with your ticket.

Taxi from Denver International Airport
Taxis are plentiful. The fare is about $50.

Driving from Denver International Airport
If you fly into Denver International Airport, exit via Pena Blvd. Take Interstate 70 West and exit immediately to Interstate 225 South. After about 12 miles, this will end at Interstate 25. Take I-25 North one exit to Hampden Avenue. Turn right (east) on Hampden and then left into the hotel, which is on the northeast corner of Hampden and I-25. Travel distance: 26 miles.
