IEEE Sponsor Ballot of the IEEE P802.16 "Air Interface for Fixed Broadband Wireless Access Systems" has closed. The draft received sufficient support for approval. Pending succcessful comment resolution and recirculation, it will be forwarded to the IEEE-SA Standards Board's Review Committee (RevCom) for approval. Completion is expected before the end of October. Final approval for publication is anticipated at the Standards Board meeting of 6 December 2001.
