Dear 802.18 members,
cc 802.11, 802.15, 802.19 members,

European Commission recently launched a consultation "The future of the electronic communications sector and its infrastructure" that aims to gather opinions on how the growing demands for connectivity and technological advances can affect the future development and needs of the electronic communications sector .

The Commission seeks to identify the types of infrastructure needed for Europe to stay ahead of transformative technological developments and lead its digital transformation in the coming years.  The consultation also seeks the views of stakeholders on how to ensure that the investments required to deploy such infrastructure are mobilized in a timely manner across the Union.  Lastly, it also covers the issue of how to ensure affordability of connectivity to consumers and how to move towards a more integrated single market for the connectivity sector.
