Re: [STDS-802-24] IEEE 802.24 Letter ballot #01 begins today

Henry

An excellent question. The 802.24 TAG, by agreement with the 802 EC, meets officially only during the Plenaries. The January meeting was an interim and hence it was an ad-hoc meeting during which we did work, but for which the decisions would need to be ratified.

Hence, I will be processing letter ballots for the key decisions we made during the interim meeting.

Sorry, I should have explained this to the reflector. We discussed this during the January Thursday PM2 session, but of course, not all of our membership was there to hear the discussion.

Thanks for giving me the chance to make this clarification.

As for the EC action, I am going to request approval for the documents to be on the consent agenda for the Monday morning meeting. If taken off of the consent agenda, then it would be voted on Monday morning.

There are no deadlines with submitting this to the Standards Board.

A few quick questoins:

How does this ballot differ from the motion to approve 22-12-0104 Rev1
that passed (unanimously) at the Vancouver meeting in January?

If the ballot passes, when will EC act on it? Specifically, will
anything happen before the end of the March Plenary? Are there any
deadlines associated with providing this information to the Standards
Board?

Thanks,

Dear 802.24 voters

With this email, IEEE 802.24 is beginning Letter Ballot #1. The
motion is:

To approve document 22-12-0104 Rev1
(https://mentor.ieee.org/802.22/dcn/12/22-12-0104-01-0000-802-24-sg-tag-input.xls)

and request EC to approve for communications to the Standards Board with
the Chair to provide appropriate cover letter.

The ballot opens on 20 February 2013 and closes on 7 March 2013.

To respond, send an email to gilb@xxxxxxxx and tim.godfrey@xxxxxxxx with
the subject line:

LB01-<LAST NAME>-<FIRST NAME>-<VOTE>

where <VOTE> shall be one of YES, NO, or ABSTAIN.

In the body of the email state your vote and affiliation.

Failure to follow the instructions will result in your vote not counting
as a valid response to the letter ballot.

This is a mandatory letter ballot. According to the IEEE 802 WG P&P,
subclause "7.2.3.Loss":

Excepting recirculation letter ballots membership may be lost if two of
the last three WG letter ballots are not returned, or are returned with
an abstention for other than “lack of technical expertise.”

We will be running a few ballots in parallel, please keep track of the
LB number.
