Re: [802SEC] MOTION 1: IEEE 802.22.2 Standards Completion Press Release

Dear EC Members,

Here are the results so far based on the Motion 1: IEEE 802.22.2 Standards Completion Press Release

Based on the current tally, the motion passes.

I have made the appropriate edits based on the comments from James and Roger. The resultant press release has been attached for your reference.

Roger, I note your comments and I have recorded your Vote as Disapprove unless you are satisfied with the changes.

Although, I had nothing to do with that paragraph, since it was supplied to me by John D’Ambrosia as part of the IEEE Open Stand related language. J

Thanks

Mody

Page 2, Line 16 says "defined by the IEEE 802 standard is already", there is no such animal as IEEE 802 standard, unless you are referring to IEEE Std 802-2001.  Instead, it should say "defined by the IEEE 802 family of standards are already".  This is what is used on line 18-19.

Page 2, line 20, same comment as above, change "IEEE 802 standard is" to be "IEEE 802 family of standards are"

Page 2, line 20-21, again, change "the IEEE 802 standard" to be "the IEEE 802 family of standards"

Because, after all, we are one, big happy family in IEEE 802 and we never fight or disagree. :)

(1) Where you provide purchasing instructions (Page 2 Line 2), the link points to IEEE Std 802.22. Please correct this; otherwise, people could buy the wrong standard by mistake.

(2) I have some difficulties with the paragraph about IEEE 802 (Page 2 Line 16). Here are my proposed edits (inserts and deletes tagged with <i></i> and <d></d> respectively):

Deployment of technology <d>defined</d><i>specified</i> by the IEEE 802 standard<i>s</i> is <d>already</d> globally pervasive, driven by the ever-growing needs of networks around the world. New application areas are constantly being considered that might leverage the IEEE 802 family of standards in their networks. To better address the needs of all of these areas, the IEEE 802 standard<d> is</d><i>s are</i> constantly evolving and expanding. The success of <d>the</d> IEEE 802 <d>standard</d>—from its inception through today—has been its fair, open, and transparent development process.

Subject: MOTION 1: IEEE 802.22.2 Standards Completion Press Release

Dear EC members,

Based on the draft IEEE 802.22.2 Recommended Practice for Installation and Deployment of 802.22 Systems – Standards Completion Press Release that I circulated to the EC a couple of weeks ago, please find attached an updated release which I'm now seeking EC approval for. The changes from my earlier press release language are as shown based on the comments that I received from Stephen McCann and John Ambrosia.

Paul has delegated the conduct of the EC electronic ballot on the following motion to me. To ensure this release is issued as soon as practical I am announcing the possibility of an 'early close' to this ballot (see below).

Best regards,

Apurva
