Re: [802SEC] Review request: Three 802.11 releases

Roger-

I agree with you.
The text should read:
"Deployment of technology defined by the IEEE 802 standards is already globally pervasive"
That is:
"Deployment of technology defined by IEEE 802 standards is already globally pervasive."

...with equivalent changes elsewhere.
It is the "802 family of standards".  The last time I looked there were 33 "802 standards" (not including amendments and corrigenda).

John,

I don't think we have a consensus on this language. For example, I don't support the term "the IEEE 802 standard", unless it's talking only about IEEE Std 802.

Bruce,

Deployment of technology defined by the IEEE 802 standard is already globally pervasive, driven by the ever-growing needs of networks around the world.  New application areas are constantly being considered that might leverage the IEEE 802 family of standards in their networks.  To better address the needs of all of these areas, the IEEE 802 standard is constantly evolving and expanding.  The success of the IEEE 802 standard—from its inception through today—has been its fair, open, and transparent development process.

Dear EC,
During our May meeting, 802.11 approved three press releases for new projects. We are now working with IEEE PR to finalize the material before presenting them for an EC ballot.

If you have a few minutes to look over these drafts and offer comments/concerns/improvements that might speed their approval during the EC ballot, it would be appreciated.

Regards,
Bruce

Hello, Bruce and Stephen.  I've dropped the three new IEEE 802.11 press releases into the IEEE-SA template and edited.  I've also inserted placeholders for when and where the PAD task groups will be meeting and websites where editors can go for more information.  I'll be happy to make any additional changes that you would like to see.  …eric
