[802SEC] IEEE P802.3bp draft PAR modification - 1 Gb/s Operation over Single Twisted Pair Copper Cable

Dear EC members,

In support of subclause 10.2 'IEEE 802 LMSC Approval' of the LMSC Operations Manual please find below the required information in respect to the PAR modification request for IEEE P802.3bp Amendment: Physical Layer Specifications and Management Parameters for 1 Gb/s Operation over Single Twisted Pair Copper Cable for consideration at the March 2014 plenary.

Best regards,
  David

[1] Draft PAR modification and unmodified CSD responses (grandfathered 5 Criteria responses):

Draft PAR modification: <http://www.ieee802.org/3/bp/P802_3bp_PAR_modification_0114.pdf>
Unmodified CSD responses (grandfathered 5 Criteria responses): <http://www.ieee802.org/3/bp/5Criteria.pdf>

[2] Explanatory technical background material:

The IEEE P802.3bp project has decided to support only single pair operation. Based on this, in PAR item 2.2 'Amendment title', item 5.2B 'Scope of project' and item 5.5 'Need for the project', fewer than three twisted pairs has been changed to a single twisted pair. In addition PAR item 4.2 'Expected Date of submission of draft to the IEEE-SA for Initial Sponsor Ballot' and item 4.3 'Projected Completion Date for Submittal to RevCom' the dates were corrected.

[3] Status of the development of the PAR:

The draft PAR modification and CSD responses are pending IEEE 802.3 Working Group approval at the March 2014 plenary.

Since the submission deadline for the March 2014 NesCom meeting (14th February 2014) occurs prior to the date of the March IEEE 802 EC meeting, I will pre-submit this draft PAR to NesCom on the understanding that:

[a] Any changes to the draft PAR text resulting from the Plenary will be promptly communicated to the NesCom Administrator.
[b] Should the IEEE 802.3 Working Group not approve the submission, it will be removed from the IEEE 802 Executive Committee and NesCom agenda.
[c] Should the IEEE 802 Executive Committee not approve the submission, it will be removed from the NesCom agenda.
