Re: [802SEC] WG straw poll request: do you support the getIEEE 802 program?

Adrian,

You can.  The current program has the following terms:

Essential terms:
1) $75  of the registration fee (per attendee per plenary session) is allocated to the get program
2) 802 standards are made available at no charge 6 months after the date of publication

Secondary terms:
3) the agreement is between 802 LMSC and IEEE SA, renewable on annual basis, current term 01JAN2014 to 31DEC2014
4) 802 LMSC and SA agree to review the agreement annually at the July plenary session

History: the program has been in place in one form or another circa 2000.

Regards,

Can I press you to be specific,  Paul?

Does “to explain the terms of the current program.” include the cost per member per meeting?

Adrian,

Good observation.

I expect the wg chair or a designee, to explain the terms of the current program. No need to complicate it. If someone is unsure, they can simply abstain.

If additional discussion is stimulated by the question, that must be handled on a case by case basis by the chair.  Yes, I will be interested in a summary of those discussions.

Hello Paul,

I’m not sure the question is meaningful without:

1.       Describing how the program works

2.       Describing the cost to them of the program

I.e.,  you are asking them to make a cost/benefit decision,  so you need to describe

both the costs and the benefits.

Best Regards,

Dear EC members,

Please conduct the following straw poll during your opening WG plenary meetings by asking this simply binary question:

Do you support the get802 progam?

Yes, No or Abstain.

It will help me in discussions regarding my review of the getIEEE 802 program with IEEE SA staff that is occurring week.

I apologize for the late notice, I should have requested it during the opening EC meeting.

Regards,
