Go to the sigcon ftp site.

Go to the TILDEFROMSIGCON directory

Download the appropriate tilde file(s)



TO BRING COMMENTS INTO YOUR DB

1.  Open your database.

2.  On the START(multi-colored) form, click on the yellow, INPUT button.  This is where you will go to import the tilde files.

3.  Type in the complete path+filename of your tilde files in the <New input datafile:> field.

4.  Click the Rough Import button.  This button does all of the 4 buttons that lie beneath it;

	i)   transfers the records from the txt file into the "rough" table, which we use for processing. We do some text processing at this stage, which consists of stripping white space, substitutting "Tilde" in for any occurrances, etc.

	ii)  assigns ID numbers to all comments that don't have them already.

	iii) sets date stamps for various functions in the database

	iv)  checks for wrong status codes, etc. 

    You should not have any problems with this, as we will have already performed these functions in our database.

5.  Go to the D3.2: Database Window (the other window that came up when you started your db.) Click on the <Tables> tab, and then doubleclick on <Rough>.  This will show you a datasheet view of all the comments you have brought into the "Rough" table.  If the count looks ok , then close that window and go back to the yellow input screen.

6.  Click the <Transfer records to Main Table> button.  This transfers the records from the "rough" table and brings them into your Main table.



NOTE:  If you run into any errors or problems on import.  Be sure to clear the rough import table before you try to import comments again.  Just click the <Clear Rough Import Table> button on the right-hand side of the yellow screen.



TO SEND COMMENTS BACK TO US:

if you have altered or resolved any comments, you need to periodically give these updates to us. Here's how to do it.

1.  From the START (multi-colored) form, click on <HoundDogging>

2.  Click on the first button--<Send to chief editor ALL comments>  This creates 2 files, a summary report, and the tilde file of your db.  

3.  Upload these files to the sigcon ftp site and put them in the TildeFromEditors directory.
