802.11

Typical Session Agenda

Plenary session

IEEE 802 holds a plenary session 3 times a year during which all the working groups (including 802.11) meet. The IEEE 802.11 session typically starts with a Monday WG opening plenary meeting and ends with a Friday WG closing plenary meeting. Prior to the opening plenary, some of the subgroups may hold ad-hoc meetings. IEEE 802 typically holds tutorials Monday evening. 802.11 subgroups might meet Tuesday evening.

Interim session

Interim sessions are jointly organized by 802.11, 802.15, 802.18, 802.19 and 802.24. On Monday, there is a joint opening plenary immediately followed by the 802.11 WG opening plenary. 802.11 subgroups might meet Monday and Tuesday evening.

General information

The session agenda is subject to change. A tentative agenda is announced (via the WG email reflector) ahead of the session. The agenda is reviewed and revised at the WG opening plenary meeting and again at the WG mid-week plenary meeting.

As a courtesy to others, attendees should silence their mobile phones during the meetings.

Member attendance for each meeting is registered electronically. The attendance record is used to maintain the voting role.

Documents are distributed electronically.

The working group operates under a hierarchy of rules described here. In conduting its meetings it also adheres to Robert's Rules of Order, copies of which can be obtained commercially, e.g., Henry M. Robert. Note that the WG does not solely recommend or exclusively endorse this book or supplier; other books on the subject are available commercially.
