[STDS-802-11-CAC] Is a recirc necessary if your stated baseline version changes?

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Chairs' Advisory Committee Reflector ---

This question applies to TGai and TGah,  but is useful for general reference.

The situation we have is that TGah is “done” in sponsor ballot.  802.11ah D8.0 declares its baseline as REVmc D5.0.

But REVmc is currently D6.0,  and I anticipate additional (hopefully minor) changes before it is brought

to the standards board as D7.0.

Can P802.11ah D8.0 be brought to the standards board?

The answer I received today from IEEE-SA staff is “no”.  They do not consider that the changes needed to

adapt to changes in its baseline (REVmc going from D5 to D7) will necessarily be editorial.

So,  TGai and TGah should both expect to update their drafts and perform a recirculation once REVmc has created its final draft.  Only comments on changed material (numbering or quoted baseline text) would be in scope.

The conditional approval reports to the EC should show this in their timelines.

Best Regards,
