All, I’m adding an agenda item to our CAC call Monday re: Comment resolution requirements. There was a comment in the closing plenary indicating that one subgroup resolved comments with a resolution along the lines of “Rejected; the TG did not come to consensus on a resolution”. Let’s review the comment resolution requirements, which are slight different pre/post approved draft. Thanks, Dorothy
a)
All comments received on an approved Sponsor/SA Ballot must be addressed, per IEEE SASB guidelines. We follow these guidelines for WGLBs also.
b)
Comments received in a Comment Collection, or from a failed ballot provide feedback from the WG and should be addressed, but there is no obligation
to address them. 5.4.3.3 Comments in the ballot Standards Committees shall provide evidence of the consideration of each comment via approved IEEE Standards Association balloting tools. Such evidence shall include (i) an indication of whether the resolution proposed by the comment was accepted, revised,
or rejected and (ii) for comments that are not accepted verbatim, an explanation for the rejection of the comment or for revision of the change proposed by the commenter. The Standards Committee's comment resolution group shall make a reasonable attempt to resolve all Do Not Approve votes that are accompanied by comments. Until the proposed standard has achieved 75% approval, comments can be based on any portion of the proposed standard.
