Re: [STDS-802-11-CAC] Update on input from James Gilb, P802.11bd D1.0 ballot to open today/ was RE: TGbd approved 11-20/1564r2 as CA document

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Chairs' Advisory Committee Reflector ---

Hello Osama,

Can 802.19 provide comments on a draft CAD document, the draft CAD being the subject of a motion for WG approval?” Yes.

The draft CAD document is accompanying the P802.11bd D1.0 draft in the WGLB, as required.

I can see an argument that this approach is actually preferable, since it provides WG members the opportunity to submit comments on the CAD draft.

See the comments from James, re: being in the spirit of what the CAD rules intend.

Thanks,

Dorothy

Thanks Dorothy,

I didn’t mean liaison.

The question is can 802.11 WG forward a document that hasn’t been approved by the WG to another WG?

Regards;

Osama.

Hello Osama,

The P802.11bd D1.0 and the CAD documents are available on the website indicated in the ballot

announcement. The 802.19 Chair, who is an ex-Officio member of the WG11 ballot pool, forwards

that information to WG19 members. I also forward the ballot announcement to the 802EC reflector.

I am not aware of a formal liaison being sent.

Thanks,

Dorothy

Hi Dorothy,

Clarification: Would the CAD be forwarded to 802.19 at the same time?

Osama.

Hello Bo –

Thank you for this update.

CAC members –

On our CAC call on Oct 12th we discussed ways forward for WG approval of the CAD document.

I took an action to check with James Gilb (802 EC Rules Committee Chair) for his opinion on the 802 LMSC rules.

Our email exchange is copied to the CAC here: https://www.ieee802.org/11/email/stds-802-11-cac/msg03751.html .

I will proceed then with following WG11 ballot motion, opening the ballot today:

“Forward P802.11bd D1.0 to Standards Association (SA) Ballot and approve the Coexistence Assurance Document in 11-20-1564r2?”

While this differs from our past practice, this motion accomplishes what I believe is the intended purpose while avoiding unnecessary delay.

My intent is to follow the required processes and minimize delays for each and every one of our amendments under development.

Let me know of any questions.

Thanks,

Dorothy

Hello, Dorothy,

TGbd has approved 11-20/1564r2 as the TGbd CA document for WG LB for 11bd D1.0. I'd like to request a WG motion for that during IEEE 802.11 plenary TC on Nov 2nd.

Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to any possibility that we can start WG LB for D1.0 as early as possible.

Best Regards,

Bo
