[STDS-802-11-REG] DSRC Coexistence Tiger Team

Greetings all,
We will not have a DSRC Coexistence Tiger Team Call this week.  Per IEEE 802 rules, we have to have a 10 day notice for any schedule changes, and that was not possible this week.  Also, since there is an IEEE 802.11 meeting in Nanjing, China next week, we will not have a call on the 20th either.  So our next scheduled call will be on September 27 at the usual time.  The conference call schedule for all of 802.11 can be found at http://www.ieee802.org/11/   I'll post an agenda for the Sept 27th meeting in advance of the call.

In the meantime, I want to put out a request for presentations on the following topics:
1) DSRC measurements and field trials - what has been measured in the lab as well as in the field.  Of particular interest would be what is happening in the Ann Arbor field trials.
2) How CCA works in 802.11ac - 802.11ac has the ability to perform Clear Channel Assessment (CCA) in several different ways.  It would be useful for everyone to have a common understanding of CCA so we can explore its suitability as a coexistence mechanism.
3) Do we really need a coexistence mechanism?  This issue was raised in the last call; our working assumption has been that a coexistence mechanism is needed, but I'd like to hear a counter argument, if there is one.

In addition, we need more discussion on proposed timelines as well as a working outline.  I will draft an outline we can use for discussion, but I'd invite comments and discussion.

Best regards,
Jim
