[STDS-802-11-TGAK] References for 802.1AS time sync end-to-end performance over 802.11 links

In Nanjing we discussed the possible use of 802.11 Fine Timing Measurement by 802.1AS. Part of that discussion was the number of 802.11 links that could be in a bridged network and still meet the end-to-end performance requirements for 802.1AS.

For those who are interested, the 802.1AS performance requirements, e.g. jitter, wander etc, are in Annex B of 802.1AS-2011. The recommendations regarding the number of 802.11 links versus maximum end-to-end latency are in 802.1BA-2011 (Audio Video Bridging systems). The assumptions in 802.1BA are that each 802.11 link would add 20 milliseconds latency, so that two 802.11 links might be added to a bridged network which could then still meet the 50 millisecond maximum end-to-end latency for Stream Reservation Class B traffic.

Both 802.1AS and 802.1BA are available for download through the IEEE Get Program: http://standards.ieee.org/about/get/802/802.1.html
