Dear all,
In today's REVme call, Emily and Thomas brought up an implementation issue of IEEE 802.11ay related to bit 6 of the RSNE Extended Capabilities field. See:
https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/21/11-21-1687-00-000m-extended-rsn-capabilities-issues-in-ieee-802-11ay-2021.pptx
In particular, bit 6 is assigned to the Wi-Fi Alliance and used by existing IEEE 802.11 implementations. A possible remedy that has been discussed during the call is to update the ANA assignment (e.g., in the IEEE 802.11ay standards, change bit 6 to another unused bit) presuming it does not affect existing IEEE 802.11ay implementation.
Please review the slide deck and share with REVme your comment/thought.
Thanks and Regards,
Edward
