主 题:RE: Discussion on HE or EHT variant differentiation of a trigger frame

Hi Ross, all,

Before we discuss on the call, I’d like to point out two things here:

  1. We agreed A-PPDU is an R2 topic and there wasalmost no discussion in R1 on the feasibility of supporting mixing HE and EHT STA and how to mixing them. Given that, the hypothesis ofR1 STA is transparent to A-PPDU is very unsafe. I highly recommend to not design a protocol based on the presumably “transparency”.
Ross: HE STA will be in A-PPDU in r2, which is also transparent. Like I said, even though there is "danger" later, we can disallow AP2 to trigger r1 EHT STA to send EHT TB PPDU, whilst they should still be able to send HE TB PPDU. R1 EHT STA should not worse than HE only STA because an EHT STA is also a HE STA.

  1. We just passed the SP of using B55 to indicate the presence of “special user field” a week ago and now this contribution is trying to revert the consensus. I don’t see a strong justification to go back and force.
Ross: this bit is used to indicate the presence of special user field, and there is no change to it at all. Once the AP needs to solicit EHT TB PPDU, regardless of A-PPDU or not, there should exist special user field.

BRs,

Xiaogang.

Subject: [STDS-802-11-TGBE] Discussion on HE or EHT variant differentiation of a trigger frame

Hi all,

I have updated the following contribution to r2 for people’s better understanding. This proposal talks about how a R1 EHT STA differentiates HE or EHT variant, or we can say, how to decide whether to transmit HE TB PPDU or EHT TB PPDU, when receiving a trigger frame. The proposed method 3 enables a R1 EHT STA to transmit either HE TB or EHT TB PPDU depending on a R2 AP’s schedule, with no additional bits needed. Just relies on the existing bits in the trigger frame.

Please review and we can discuss in the next joint call. All comments are welcome.

Hi Alfred,

Please add the following contribution to the joint queue, this is related with the trigger frame PDT (11/21-0259r3). Hence I want to discuss this together with the trigger frame PDT. Thanks.
