Hi Guogang, Thank you for initiating this discussion. As I mentioned in the Webex chat, I am in favor of keeping the existing definition and adding a new definition for an affiliated AP. The new definition will refer back to the existing definition and say that
the STA is an AP STA. Since we are providing definition for an affiliated AP, why not consider affiliated non-AP STA as well? Something like the following: affiliated STA: A station (STA), which can be an access point (AP) STA or non-access point (non-AP) STA, that provides link-specific, lower medium access control (MAC) and physical
layer (PHY) services within a multi-link device (an MLD). ^^ no change to the existing definition. affiliated AP: An affiliated station (STA) that is an access point (AP) STA
and the corresponding MLD is an AP MLD. affiliated non-AP STA: An affiliated station (STA) that is a non-access point (non-AP) STA
and the corresponding MLD is a non-AP MLD. I am OK if the group decides not to include the
highlighted portion. I am open to consider other suggestions. Regards, From: huangguogang <000017b1384624cd-dmarc-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
Hi all, I initial this email thread to discussion the resolution on CID 12306.
Generally, there are three options based on received comments:
·
Option 1. Rejected. Because the current definition of affiliated STA already has mentioned “which can be access point (AP) STA or non-access point (non-AP) STA”. affiliated STA:
A station (STA), which can be an access point (AP) STA or non-access point (non-AP) STA, that provides link-specific, lower
(#11813)medium access control (MAC) and physical layer (PHY) services within a multi-link device (an MLD)(#10370).
·
Option 2. Revised. Modified the current definition of affiliated STA to cover both affiliated STA and affiliated AP
·
Option 3. Revised. Just add the corresponding definition of affiliated AP and don’t change the current definition of affiliated STA.
Please feel free to provide your thoughts on it.
