[STDS-802-11-TGBE] Discuss resolution of CID 22027 related to AID assignment

Hi all,

Thanks for the discussion of CID 22027 related to AID assignment during the teleconference call. After considering various input, I have updated the resolution to two cases.

  • Case 1: with reconfiguration support: Need to avoid AID assignment collision to all the links of AP MLD due to potentiaL future add link reconfiguration operation
  • Case 2: without reconfiguration support: Only need to avoid AID assignment collision to setup links

Please see the texts below and let me know if you have further suggestions.

(#22027) Upon successful ML setup between an AP MLD that has dot11EHTLinkReconfigurationOperationActivated equal to true and a non-AP MLD that has the Link Reconfiguration Operation Support subfield set to 1 in the MLD Capabilities And Operations subfield of the Basic Multi-Link element that it transmits, the AP MLD shall assign a single AID to the non-AP MLD such that the AID is not already assigned to:

  • a non-AP MLD associated with the AP MLD or
  • a non-MLD non-AP STA that is associated with any AP affiliated with the AP MLD or
  • a non-MLD non-AP STA that is associated with an AP that is a member of the same multiple BSSID set as one of the APs affiliated with the AP MLD or
  • a non-AP MLD that is associated with another AP MLD that has an affiliated AP belonging to the same multiple BSSID set as one of the APs affiliated with the AP MLD

(#22027) Upon successful ML setup between an AP MLD that has dot11EHTLinkReconfigurationOperationActivated equal to false or a non-AP MLD that has the Link Reconfiguration Operation Support subfield set to 0 in the MLD Capabilities And Operations subfield of the Basic Multi-Link element that it transmits, the AP MLD shall assign a single AID to the non-AP MLD such that the AID is not already assigned to:

  • a non-AP MLD associated with the AP MLD or
  • a non-MLD non-AP STA that is associated with any AP affiliated with the AP MLD corresponding to a link that is accepted as part of the ML (re)setup or
  • a non-MLD non-AP STA that is associated with an AP that is a member of the same multiple BSSID set as the AP affiliated with the AP MLD that corresponds to a link that is accepted as part of the ML (re)setup or
  • a non-AP MLD that is associated with another AP MLD that has an affiliated AP belonging to the same multiple BSSID set as the AP affiliated with the AP MLD that is operating on a link that is accepted as part of the ML (re)setup

Best,

Po-Kai
