Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBN] Straw Polls on Roaming for 11bn MAC - Montreal

Hi Alfred,

Could you please add the following two SP texts on NPCA to the MAC agenda?

The SP1 text is

Do you agree to include the following into the 11bn SFD?

  • An AP that is capable of Non-Primary Channel Access (NPCA) announces at most one NPCA Primary channel that is in its BSS operating channel width and that is not a punctured 20 MHz subchannel (as indicated in the HE/EHT Operation element)
  • Details on signaling is TBD

The SP2 text is

Do you agree to include the following into the 11bn SFD?

  • STA that is capable of Non-Primary Channel Access (NPCA) shall initiate frame exchange with a control frame when it performs channel access on the NPCA Primary channel
  • Details on control frame is TBD

Best Regards,

Dongju

Dear Alfred

Could you update the following SP for IDC? There is some more harmonization with this SP text

It is scheduled to AM2 tomorrow

[SP1 in 831r2]

  • Do you agree to include the following into the 11bn SFD?
    • 11bn defines a mechanism to allow a non-AP STA to indicate a periodic unavailability in time to its associated AP

Note: Some harmonization based on [24/0831, 23/0816, 23/1934, 23/2002, 23/2078, 24/0420]

Best Regards,

Hongwon

Hi Alfred,

Can you also help to add the following SP for roaming?

Do you support the following:

o    Define a request frame for a non-AP MLD in state 4 to initiate the roaming procedure

o    The roaming procedure enables context transfer to the target AP MLD and move DS mapping from current AP MLD to target AP MLD

o    Define a response frame to the non-AP MLD to indicate readiness for the non-AP MLD to send class 3 frames to the target AP MLD

o    The non-AP MLD shall not send any data during the request/response frame exchange

o    NOTE - What context is transferred is TBD.

Do you support the following:

o    At the time the response frame to initiate the roaming procedure is sent, the following shall be complete

·         The non-AP MLD context that is required for resuming operation with the target AP MLD shall be transferred to the target AP MLD

o    After this request/response frame exchange to initiate the roaming procedure,

·         If DS is not already notified about the update of the destination mapping for the non-AP MLD, DS is notified about the update of the destination mapping for the non-AP MLD

·         The current AP MLD shall not pass up any user data in the received reorder buffer to the next MAC process after the response frame is sent.

o    NOTE - What context is transferred is TBD.

Supporting list: [23/1971, 23/1996, 24/0052, 24/0083, 24/0101, 24/0396, 24/0412, 24/0679]

Best,

Po-Kai

Subject: [STDS-802-11-TGBN] Straw Polls on Roaming for 11bn MAC - Montreal

Dear Alfred,

Please find below some straw polls on Roaming I am planning to run for 11bn MAC agenda  in the upcoming week:

  • Straw poll 1: Do you support to define in 11bn that when a non-AP MLD is in the process of roaming from the current AP MLD to a target AP MLD, the context related to the non-AP MLD is transferred to the target AP MLD such that it preserves the data exchange context for the non-AP MLD?
    • Details of the context that can be transferred are TBD
    • How to transfer the context is TBD.

  • Straw poll 2: Do you agree that during roaming, after the request/response exchange that initiates notification of the DS mapping change from the current AP MLD to the target AP MLD,
    • The current AP MLD is able to deliver buffered DL data frames for a TBD period of time.
    • The non-AP MLD may retrieve buffered DL data frames from the current AP MLD
    • TBD – The non-AP MLD shall not send UL data to current AP MLD
    • The non-AP MLD may send UL data to target AP MLD.
    • It is assumed that the target AP MLD is able to deliver data frames after the DS mapping change

Supporting list: [23/1971, 23/1996, 24/0052, 24/0083, 24/0101, 24/0396, 24/0412, 24/0679]

At all participants, let me know if you have comments and would like to have your presentation to be added to the support list.

Best,

Giovanni
