Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBN] 11bn DBE PDT

Hi Jay,

Thank you for your comment.

The DBE feature is not changing operating bandwidth at the TxOP level. The change of bandwidth is at a longer time scale, e.g. at minutes time scale, where DBE expanded bandwidth remains active for say 5+ minutes.
In current deployments, specially enterprise networks, CSA/ECSA is used infrequently e.g. once a day and mainly for changing P20 channel. CSA has some undesirable legacy clients impact (e.g. some legacy clients roam away and later come back, causing 2x roaming impact). To avoid such legacy impact, enterprise RRM logic typically performs any P20 change (with CSA) during off-peak hours (e.g. in the middle of the night). It is not acceptable to have such CSA related legacy impact because of dynamic BW change every few minutes.

With DBE, we are enabling a mode of operation where operating BW for DBE supporting STAs can be dynamically expanded/changed (to be higher than BSS bandwidth) in a seamless manner, w/o causing any legacy impact. Any change to the operating BW remains active until a subsequent BW change is announced for several BIs. This DBE announcement procedure ensures that DBE BW remains active for several BIs at the minimum

Hope this clarifies.

Thanks,
Binita

Hi Binita ,

I just have some high level comment on DBE feature when you present the PDT this evening.

I recalled DBE looks like TXOP level dynamically change the BW , it will be more efficient than other feature defined in baseline.

But Brain explain it's a long term feature, like, the AP may switch the bandwidth via DBE after several hours. If so, the CSA already can meet such requirement,

Based on this direction proposed by Brain, could you elaborate the gain of DBE compared with CSA ?

Thanks

Best Regards

Hi Alfred,

Please add DBE PDT doc 25/503 to TGbn MAC agenda:

https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/25/11-25-0503-00-00bn-pdt-mac-dbe.docx

This is based on the DBE motion that passed in the March meeting.

All, please provide any feedback you have.

Thanks,

Binita
