[STDS-802-11-TGM] REVmc: just a heads up about Annex R

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Task Group M Technical Reflector ---

REVmc-ers:

A ‘heads up’ that ARC is considering a recommendation to make Annex R (the DS SAP) normative text.  This comes from the joint work between 11ak and 802.1 - to be able to map 802.1Q bridges to 802.11 portals, they need a SAP interface that is a normative reference in the 802.1 specifications.

The reason to bring this up to TGmc, besides just a general awareness, is that the discussions in ARC SC led us to conclude that if this Annex becomes normative, it should probably also move into the main body of the Standard.  Since we have clauses 5, 6 and 7 each of which contains one SAP description/definition, already, it makes the most sense for Annex R to become a new clause in the same general area.

Dorothy, it would be helpful to get just a couple minutes of agenda time in Athens to discuss this, please (could be last thing on Thursday, if that helps).

Thanks.  Mark
