> Security CIDs: 3426, 3427, 3429 also 11-14-1357 14/1357r0 suffers from the following problems, most significant first: 1) The terminology proposed is, in the resulting draft text, in general neither explicitly defined (a couple of specific instances are defined) nor implicitly defined (through a normative or bibliographical reference). 2) The terminology proposed is at variance with a normative reference, specifically RFC 2104 (though one specific form is aligned with a bibliographical reference, specifically RFC 2202), and no justification is given, in the discussion of the proposed resolution, for this. 3) The construct "Truncate-128(HMAC-SHA-1-128(" is used. What is the point of truncating to 128 bits something which produces output truncated to 128 bits? 4) The term "HMAC-SHA-1-64 hash algorithm" is used despite an earlier assurance that "there is no such algorithm called "HMAC-SHA1-64", or even "HMAC-SHA-1-64"". (Furthermore, "we should not be using the definite article when describing the use of SHA1 [sic] in an HMAC construct while truncating the output to 64 bits.") 5) The draft w.r.t. which the changes are being proposed is not specified (I think it's D3.3).
