Re: [STDS-802-11-TGM] REVmd comment resolution for 87 CIDs uploaded

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Task Group M Technical Reflector ---
Hello Mark,

Re CID 1570, I understand what "temporary draft thing" you refer to now.    Then I agree that it should be rejected because the final amendment will not show the symbol.

Re CID 1241, I will transfer it from EDITOR2 to MAC.

I will upload r3 of the spreadsheet 18/0619 by the end of today.

Regards,
Edward

Hello Edward,

CID 1570: isn't this just a temporary draft thing?  In the final spec cross-references do not include the caption

[Edward]  I check the source code and it seems that it is not a temporary draft thing.   I will review and possibly fix it when I edit the clause.

Huh?  Here is an excerpt from the same subclause in 802.11-2016;

as you can see the cross-reference does not include the caption:

cid:image002.jpg@01D3DCB6.EFA430F0

[Edward-2]  In the version D1.0 I read, it shows the following:

cid:image004.png@01D3DCB6.EFA430F0
That is, J(iSS) rather than J(i_{SS}).  That's why I believe I should replace "iSS" with "i_{SS}".    It is also the reason I decided to keep the proposed resolution as "Revised" so that I would check and update it.

OK, we're somehow talking at cross-purposes!  There is no J(iSS) that I can

see, except the one in the parenthesis after "Table 21-18" (at 2966.23 per

the commenter), and as I have demonstrated explicitly, that parenthesis will

disappear in the approved document anyway.  (The table caption at 2966.25

does say J(iSS) and is fine.)

So I think the resolution should be "REJECTED: the parenthesis in which

"J(iSS)" appears will not be present in the final approved document".

CID 1241: there are references of "ANQP query"s in 9.4.5.24 (3x),

11.23.3.3.15 (4x inc. "ANQP Query Response frame") plus all the

"ANQP Query ID"s

[Edward]  Some of your proposed changes seems technical in nature.   I will keep the proposed resolution for that particular location (i.e., page 2211, line 38).   I can work with you and Stephen to review your input and prepare a separate submission for members to review.

I am not clear what "separate submission" means here.  The issues

to do with the _expression_ "ANQP query" should all be dealt with

under CID 1241.

[Edward-2].  For CID 1241, the commenter asks for a specific change at 2211.38.   While I appreciate your review and identify similar problems in the other clauses of the draft, some of the problems you point out are beyond the nature of this editorial comment, e.g., whether it is ANQP query or ANQP response in the subclause 9.4.5.24 that I believe we may need inputs from Stephen and TGai members.   That's why I prefer to have a separate submission to address your comments.  Alternatively, I can move this CID to MAC ad-hoc.   Let me know your thought.

Well, the commenter asks for that change, but the comment is actually

that "This clause refers to ANQP queries which are not defined anywhere".

So to properly resolve this comment we must remove all references

to "ANQP query"s.  Yes, please move this to MAC if that's what it will

take to fix it.

Thanks,

Mark

Edward

Hello Edward,

Thanks for your responses.

Thanks for your comments.   Please refer to my comments inline.  I've also posted 18/0619r2 on mentor.

CID 1037: at least for me with my PDF viewer D2.0 seems to have an OK hyperlink

[Edward]  I've used other PDF viewers to review and the problem (i.e., the hyperlink is broken) still exists.

CID 1094: I think the current sentence is saying RD applies to any of

the types aforementioned.  So the meaning is different in the proposed

change.  However, the first sentence seems sufficient to me, so

I would just delete the last sentence

[Edward]  Agree.  The proposed resolution is updated.

CID 1129/1130: also issues at

p 1588 2 MHz duplicate frame

p 1634 duplicate 1 MHz control frame and duplicate 1 MHz frames and duplicate 1 MHz Support field

p 3082 S1G 2 MHz Duplicate mode PPDU

p 3094 S1G 1/2 MHz Duplicate PSDU (each 3x)

p 3110 if 1 MHz Duplicate PPDU (2x)

p 3115, p3116 ditto

23.3.9.12 1 MHz and 2 MHz duplicate transmission and instances in subclauses thereof

23.3.16.2 1 MHz or 2 MHz Duplicate mode transmission and 1 and 2 MHz duplicated segments

Table 23-29 1/2 MHz Duplicate Mode

[Edward]  It may need more work for both CIDs.  I remove them from the review list and move them to "Discuss" for more work and discussion.

CID 1221: also fix at 1135.60

[Edward]  Agree.  The proposed resolution is updated

CID 1253: what about 20.9.2.2.2 BRP packet structure?

[Edward]  The proposed resolution is updated to take into account BRP packet structure in subclause 20.9.2.2.2.

CID 1254: it's not clear MPDUs have a transmit mask at all.  Shouldn't it be

"measured on PPDUs containing (only?) Data frames"?

[Edward]  I get input from Assaf and a few folks on this comment too., who say that restriction is not needed and control mode PPDUs should not be excluded.     The proposed resolution is updated from ""The transmit mask shall be measured on data packets..." to "The transmit mask shall be measured on PPDUs...".

CID 1255: resolution (copied from CID 1253) doesn't work here as "Packet structure" does not appear in the caption of F20-5

[Edward]  Agree and the note to commenter is removed.

CID 1570: isn't this just a temporary draft thing?  In the final spec cross-references do not include the caption
