An issue in IEEE Std 802.11ai-2016 came up as part of the review of the RSNE extension mechanism. This issue results in interoperability issues between compliant FILS STA and FILS AP implementations where FILS authentication would fail every single time. This should be addressed in REVmd as soon as possible to avoid issues with FILS deployments taken into account that FILS capable devices are becoming available now.

I've posted a contribution that discusses this issue and proposes changes to address it. I'm requesting TGmd agenda time to go through this document.
