[STDS-802-11-TGM] 25/1890 comment resolution on CIDs 19, 20, 21, 191

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Task Group M Technical Reflector ---

Hi all

In more detail wrt earlier “Updated Channel usage procedures refactoring, unavailability bugfixes, misc topics and "implementation" MIB variable comment resolutions in 25/1890, 1891, 2177 and 2302” email, 25/1890 covers the following miscellaneous CIDs, where review and feedback is welcome:

CID 19:

Add a figure and modes accompanying text in Clause 5 showing relationship between MSDUs, MMPDUs, MPDUs, A-MPDUS, PSDUs and PPDUs.

CID 20:

Improve the connection from clause 9 to the frame format portion of clause 12, by indicating that

  • the Frame Body field might be sent directly or after transformations defined in Clause 12 (with specific xref to help the reader find that frame format content)
  • the Frame Body fields defined in clause 9 are before such transformations
  • corrections around A-MSDUs (for which dynamic fragmentation is now defined)
  • changing “Data (PDU)” to “Data/Management (PDU)” in Clause 12

CID 21:

Since NOTE 1 in 9.3.2.1.1 reports maximum frame body sizes but with a gap, yet 9.2.4.8.1 has all the details, convert that note to a xref and move the note content to 9.2.4.8.1. There update the note for CCMP-256 and provide more calculation context to improve maintainability.

CID 191 (dependent on CID 28 in 25/1891)

Extend the Channel Usage feature to Narrowband Frequency Hoppers.

CID 538

Clarifying the standard’s usage of the term “mobility” to account for traditional APs on ships, planes etc.

This is a work in progress and is likely to be revised further before presentation.

Best wishes
Brian
