grouper.ieee.org web server to the IEEE Datacenter on Tues 27 Nov, between 10-11am US Eastern time. Many of you are aware that Hurricane Sandy hit the US east coast two weeks ago and caused considerable damage. IEEE has offices in New York City and New Jersey, including
the IEEE Operations Center in NJ which houses our datacenter. The Operations Center lost power for 10 days and ran on backup generators for a few days until we could no longer get fuel. The IEEE enacted its Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan
and migrated critical services to offsite locations. When power was restored IEEE migrated services back to the IEEE Datacenter. Due to a number of important conferences/meetings being held by Standards Committees, the
SA chose to delay the failback of its systems so as not to cause any disruptions. SA will schedule a gradual migration of its systems back to the IEEE Datacenter to have as little impact on Standards committees/groups as possible. Please be aware that the migration back (of
grouper.ieee.org) involves a change in dns/ip address and there may be some minimal potential downtime. Let me know if you have any questions.
