Re: [STDS-802-11] Travel Suggestions from YVR to Hyatt Regency Vancouver for January Interim Meeting

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

As was learned during last August’s IETF meeting at the same venue, if you’re going to use the SkyTrain for more than just getting to the hotel, it’s advantageous and relatively easy to buy a book of tickets that saves you a whole lot of money including not having to pay the airport surcharge.  Details can be found in this message:

http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/84attendees/current/msg00076.html

The book of tickets can be shared (it’s not a single 10-ride ticket).

If I recall correctly, on weekends, a one-zone ticket suffices to get to the hotel instead of the usual two-zone ticket.  Unless it’s miserably cold or snowing outside, you don’t really have to transfer either.  It’s 3 short blocks from City Centre station to the Hyatt.

There is an easy access "Sky Train" (subway style) service, from YVR to the Hyatt Regency Vancouver.

Details are as follows:

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) Transportation

Canada Line: The Canada Line connects Vancouver International Airport to downtown Vancouver in under 30 minutes. Cost is $3.75 CAD for adults and $2.50 CAD for children each way, plus a $5.00 CAD surcharge for all trips originating at the airport. Hyatt Regency Vancouver is located at the Burrard Street Station and will require a transfer at either Granville Station or Waterfront Station. Please visit http://www.translink.ca/ for more information.

Taxi: Taxis are available at the airport 24 hours a day, including wheelchair accessible vans. Taxi queue areas are located at both the domestic and international arrivals terminals. Approximate cost to the Hyatt: $35.00 CAD
