Board of Governors and Executive Committee members,
At
last month's Board meetings, I announced that the Nominations Committee was
soliciting names for potential nominees for 2014 president-elect, first and
second VP, and BoG members. Thanks to those members who already suggested
nominees. Recruiting qualified
leadership is critical to the vitality of the IEEE Computer Society. In
order to continue to move forward as an organization we must grow the next
generation of thought leadership.
The Nominations Committee requests BoG
and ExCom members to consider this challenge carefully, and recruit individuals
whom they might recommend for the 2013 nominations slate.
The
committee seeks a broad and diverse pool of candidates for the election
slate. The committee encourages you to circulate the call for nominations
to your program boards, committees, and colleagues to solicit qualified
candidates -- perhaps including yourself. Please direct them to the Call for
Nominations web page at http://www.computer.org/portal/web/nominations/announcements
to submit their nominations via the web form.
Self-nominations are encouraged, but individuals may
also be nominated by a colleague. Individuals may submit their names for more
than one position.
The
list of proposed nominees will be sent to the BoG no later than 17 May for
approval at the 14 June BoG meeting.
Best
regards,
John
Walz
