Re: [STDS-802-11] Fwd: Train Station to the Airport

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---
On the subject of saving money, the #5 bus goes from the train station to the airport at frequent intervals. It goes right by the ITU and the EBU on it's way to the airport. It takes a few more minutes than the train, but you can use the transit pass that the hotel gave you to ride for free.

And yes, the train station is usually the place to pick up a quick snack, chocolates, etc. It's inexpensive and there's almost always something open very early in the morning or late at night, even on Sundays. Unlike the United Sates, in Europe most stores close on Sunday, but there will usually be a few places open at the main train station, "Gare" or "Hopbahnhof". And they will be much cheaper than the shops at the airport.

Jon,

Here's some information you can share at the closing plenary  about ticket
purchases for those taking the train to the airport from the Geneva train
station.

Trains leave every 15 minutes to the airport.  It's an 8 minute ride.  If
you use one of the ticket machines train station, the ticket cost is $3.50
(swiss Franc).  It's important to note the machine only takes small coins,
small bills <$10 (Swiss franc or Euros) and CCs.

The grocery store in the train station has Chocolate assortments that are 20
- 25%  less expensive than chocolates offered in the speciality shops in
Geneva.

It's a little late, but the water in the train station grocery store is 1.80
a bottle .  I paid much more elsewhere.

I fly out tomorrow morning

Safe travels

Al
