Re: [STDS-802-11] IEEE 802.11 Mandatory Technical Letter Ballot 216 for 802.11aq Draft 3.0 Starts Today

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

Thank you,  Chuck,  for bringing this to my attention.

In the interests of full disclosure I’m copying to the WG.

There was some debate at the start of the ballot as to whether D2.0 properly included the approved changes.  I had set up the ballot to use D2.0,  and then the TGaq chair decided it was best to address a couple of editing issues.  Because D2.0 was already on the server,  and I never, ever

want to hear discussion along the lines of “which version of D2.0 was that page number from?”,

a D3.0 was prepared addressing these editing issues.  Anyway,  that explains the numbering change.

The notice on the home page and the links from that and the instruction page all correctly pointed to D3.0.  I have just updated the text on the ePoll question.

It is my intent to close the ballot on the original timing.

Best Regards,

Adrian P STEPHENS

Adrian,

In case no one else has pointed this out, the ballot question on the voting web page does not match the question in the instructions and your email below.

The voting web page asks whether “Draft 2.0” should be forwarded to Sponsor Ballot.   I believe this should state “Draft 3.0”.

IEEE 802.11(TM) Letter Ballot 216

To: IEEE 802.11 Voters,

With this email, the 802.11 Working Group is officially beginning WG Technical Letter Ballot 216 (LB216), which is a Letter Ballot on the question "Should P802.11aq D3.0 be forwarded to Sponsor Ballot?".

This Letter Ballot opens Thu Oct 08, 2015 at 23:59 Eastern Time USA (11:59PM) and will close 30 days later on Sat Nov 07, 2015 at 23:59 Eastern Time USA (11:59pm). All necessary documents are available in the instructions that can be found on the IEEE 802.11 web site at http://www.ieee802.org/11/LetterBallots/LB216aq/LB216_instructions.html.

Important:

o             This is a 30-day Technical letter ballot and the ballot group (i.e., those that may vote) for this ballot is all IEEE 802.11 voter members as of the start of this letter ballot.

o             All current voter members of 802.11 are required to vote on this ballot.

o             If you cast a "Do not approve" vote on this ballot, it must be accompanied by comments for your vote to be valid.

o             You must follow these instructions to vote. Do not send an email to vote. Voting by any method other than the web-based process described here will invalidate your vote.

o             Failure to follow these instructions will result in your vote being discarded as an invalid vote.

o             Not voting on letter ballots or sending an invalid vote can affect your voting privileges.

o             The draft is password protected in accordance with IEEE 802 Policies and Procedures.  To obtain the draft, use the username and the password supplied to active members for the 802.11 WG private area.

(The attached file contains a reminder set for 5 days before the close of the ballot.  You may find it helpful to import this into or open this with your calendar client in order to get an automated reminder.)

Thank you for participating in Letter Ballot 216.
