Dear All, and particularly 802 EC 5G SC fans (or detractors),
The 802 EC 5G SC is due to complete its report on: 802 5G/IMT 2020 cost/benefits of a IEEE 5G specification and/or a proposal for IMT 2020 as a single technology, set of technologies and/or as one or more technologies
within a proposal from external bodies, this week. The latest draft of the report is available on the EC server:

The current 802 EC 5G SC plan is to discuss, edit, and reach consensus on the report during the Monday, July 25th 7:30-9:30pm evening session. Then on Tuesday, July 26th 7:30-9:30pm
evening session, agree the committee has finished its work and agree to disband, allowing future work on “5G” to be done in interested existing WGs (e.g. 802.11 and 802.1). See opening status report from the 802 EC SC chair:

All are welcome to attend the evening sessions on Monday and Tuesday and provide their insights and contributions to the meetings and assist the committee in competing its work.
I will be providing a summary of the 802 EC 5G SC activities and the “agreed” report at the Wednesday midweek plenary, as per the 802.11 agenda.

It is anticipated that the agreed 802 EC 5G SC report will be presented to the 802 EC at the Friday, July 29th, 802 EC Closing Session 13:00-18:00 (the agenda for this session is not currently available).
