--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---
Hi Jon, Thanks for your reply. A couple of comments still: 1.
We agreed to a 30-day review on November 11. The draft came out on December 1st. If the ballot period had opened earlier (say the week after
the meeting), the issue would not have arisen. We signed a bit of a blank check by agreeing to a 30-day period without knowing when it would start. 30 days starting Nov 18 is not the same as 30 days starting Dec 1st.
2.
A 30-day review period usually implies four working weeks – give or take a few days. If the discrepancy is too high, I believe this should be taken
into account. If not now – then at least going forward. 3.
I know of at least one instance where the ballot period was changed by the WG chair (see attached email). In that case, it was a technical glitch that
would have prevented some people from having access to the full review period. Regardless, this precedent would indicate that the WG chair has the authority to extend the ballot period if conditions warrant it. I’m not making this request lightly. We should respect the relevant procedures. Nevertheless, I believe the current ballot period has some exceptional circumstances
to it. The question is how the interest of the TG is best served. I believe an extra week is beneficial to everyone, without interfering with the goal to finish the LB by the January meeting. Regards, Sigurd From: *** IEEE stds-802-11 List *** [mailto:STDS-802-11@xxxxxxxx]

HI Graham and Sigurd, while I am sympathetic to your concerns, I would point out that the TG and WG voted and determined to have a 30 day LB. It would not be permissible to arbitrarily change the end date contrary to what the WG and TG voted for. (I would also note it was unanimous in November). FWIW, Jon
