Re: [STDS-802-11] Fwd: Incheon to Daejeon by bus

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

You can use American Express to buy train tickets.

All the taxis I used in Seoul accepted credit cards.  But there were a few times when my US credit card (VISA) did not go through.  Not sure if was bad luck.  Sorry but I know less about taxis in Daejeon…

Thanks.

Youhan

One would think that our $800 registration fee would include a comprehensive travel guide for this location.

Thanks Suhwook,

Do you know if the train ticket counter accepts credit cards like American Express?

What about the taxis in South Korea. Do they generally accept credit cards?

Thanks again,

-Andrew

Hi Graham,

The ticket isnt available in the next train.

You can change the ticket for next train at ticket counter with a cancellation fee.

(15% before 20 minutes after departure time of the train, 40% before 60 minutes, 70% after 60 minutes)

Best,

Suhwook Kim

Thanks Adrian.

Final question to anyone familiar with the route,

“If I book a train ticket I see that I must choose a particular time.  If the plane is delayed and I miss that train, can I still use the ticket on the next train?”

For example, I arrive at 3.05pm, theoretically, so I could choose the 4.30pm train.  If the plane is late or I get stuck in arrivals, could I still use my ticket for the next train, or indeed a non-direct train?  Or have I misunderstood the reservation scheme?  Or is it better not to book in advance?  What please is recommendation?

Sorry to be a nuisance but maybe others will benefit also from the replies.

Thanks

Graham

That's right,  Graham.
The first stop is the Daeduk Convention Centre - which is where the convention centre used to be.

Taking the train and taxi is an alternative.    I looked at the schedules,   and looking for a ride at 17:00,
I get into the hotel 30 minutes earlier taking the bus route - because the trains are not as frequent.

Thanks Adrian,

So to be doubly sure, what Bob Heile said in his email of April 22 “The first stop of the deluxe bus in Daejeon is the convention center and from there it is a short walk to the Lotte City or ICC”, is wrong?

The obvious, quicker, recommendation appears then to take the train and taxi (assuming Bob’s description of that is correct)?

Dear 802.11 members,

(Fourth attempt at posting).

There has been some confusion about where the bus from Incheon to
Daejeon stops.
The first stop of the bus stops at
the old convention center,  which is about 2km from the one we are
meeting at.

The second stop of the bus is the Government Complex - again about 2km
from the meeting.

From there you can take a taxi to your hotel.  Google maps
also says there's a bus
every 15 minutes that covers this route.
