To: IEEE-SA Standards Board <sasb@xxxxxxxx>

Dear Colleagues,

As many of you will recall the IEEE-SA Standards Board passed a resolution with respect to avoiding the use of non-inclusive and insensitive terminology in December 2020 <https://standards.ieee.org/about/sasb/resolutions/>. More recently the IEEE-SA Standards Board approved the IEEE P3400 ‘Standard for Use of Inclusive Language in Technical Terminology and Communications’ PAR. I therefore wanted to make you aware of the first meeting of the IEEE P3400 Working Group as you may wish to attend or may wish to forward this information to your respective Standards Committees and Working Groups.

Best regards,

  David

You are invited to attend the kick-off meeting of a new IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA) project: IEEE P3400™, Standard for Use of Inclusive Language in Technical Terminology and Communications. The scope of this project is below.

The Working Group will be organized and launched at this hybrid kick-off meeting and is expected to hold regular virtual meetings and occasional hybrid meetings. Participation is free and open to all individuals with an interest in developing this standard. The Working Group is seeking diverse perspectives and global participation and invites you to participate yourself and to forward this announcement to others who many have an interest.

Date : Friday, 22 April 2022
Time : 12:30 - 16:00 UTC

Registration is required for meeting attendance.

This will be a hybrid meeting. For those interested in attending in-person, the meeting will be held at:
