Dear all,

I have received a number of requests to change the date for the AIML TIG teleconference for the AI/ML tutorial since it overlaps with labor day holiday.

In order to avoid holidays and to provide enough time for our presenters to prepare for the tutorials, the AIML TIG teleconference has been changed to:

Friday, September 2nd, at 10 ET, for two hours.

Best regards,

Xiaofei Clement Wang

Subject: announcement of AIML TIG teleconference for AI/ML tutorial

Dear all,

I am announcing a teleconference for the AIML TIG on September 5th, 2022, at 10 am ET, for two hours.

We are very fortunate that Prof. Szymon Szott and Prof. Boris Bellalta agreed to provide the AIML TIG members a tutorial on AI/ML, with a focus on 802.11. Thank you!

The tutorial is expected to take about 1.5 hours.

Prof. Szymon Szott received his MSc and PhD degrees in telecommunications (both with honors) from the AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow, Poland in 2006 and 2011, respectively. Currently he is working as an associate professor at the Institute of Telecommunications of AGH University. In 2013, he was a visiting researcher at the University of Palermo (Italy) and at Stanford University (USA). His professional interests are related to wireless local area networks (channel access, quality of service, security, inter-technology coexistence). He is an IEEE 802.11 Working Group member and, in the past, he has been a member of ETSI’s Network Technology Working Group Evolution of Management towards Autonomic Future Internet (AFI), a senior member of IEEE, and on the management board of the Association of Top 500 Innovators. He is a reviewer for international journals and conferences. He has been involved in several European projects as well as grants supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the National Science Centre, Poland. He is the author or co-author of over 70 research papers.

Prof. Boris Bellalta (SM’13) is a Full Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), where he heads the Wireless Networking group. His research interests are in the area of wireless networks and performance evaluation, with emphasis on Wi-Fi technologies, XR immersive communications, and Machine Learning-based adaptive systems. He is currently involved as principal investigator and coordinator in several EU (MAX-R), national (Wi-XR) and industry funded research projects. The results from his research have been published in 150+ international journal and conference papers.
