Dear 802.18 members,

On 24 May 2022, Japan MIC began a consultation that seeks public opinions on a few draft ministerial ordinances that propose to widen the bandwidth of low-power wireless systems in the 920MHz band following the publication of IEEE 802.11ah standards.

As mentioned in the consultation, following the current regulations of the 920MHz band active low power wireless system, the unit channel width is 200kHz and it is possible to bundle up to 5 channels and use up to the allowable value of the occupied frequency bandwidth of 1MHz. In order to meet the demand for video transmission and relatively large-capacity data transmission, further widening of the bandwidth is required, which results in this consultation.

The comment closing date is 22 June 2022.  If you would like IEEE 802 to submit a comment to this consultation, the 802.18 internal deadline is 8 June 2022.

Regards,
Edward
