Dear 802.18 members,
cc. 802.11 and 802.15 members,
It is a friendly reminder that this Thursday (September 15) is the deadline for IEEE 802.18 to consider any proposed IEEE 802 LMSC comment to the Japan's MIC consultation.
For this proposed frequency restructuring plan,
1) as mentioned, to consider an extension of wireless LAN to 6425~7125 MHz, the use of high-power outdoor wireless LAN in the 5925~6425 MHz band, and the use of narrowband devices.
2) in addition, to continue the coexistence study for 6425~7125 MHz and conclude any technical condition by March 2024, while keeping in mind that 7025~7125 MHz is currently under study for IMT at WRC-23.

On 1 September 2022, Japan MIC began a public consultation that asked for opinions on its frequency restructuring action plan (version FY 2022):
https://www.soumu.go.jp/menu_news/s-news/01kiban09_02000443.html
Of possible interest to us is about their proposal on the 6 GHz band, namely: to consider an extension of wireless LAN to 6425~7125 MHz, the use of high-power outdoor wireless LAN in the 5925~6425 MHz band, and the use of narrowband devices.
For the 5.9 GHz band, Japan MIC also considers examining specific frequency usage policies when introducing V2X communication.
The comment submission deadline is 3 October 2022. If you would like IEEE 802 to submit any comment to Japan MIC, the internal deadline for 802.18 to consider is 15 September 2022 (i.e., the beginning of our second meeting slot in the September 2022 Wireless Interim).
Regards,
Edward
