Subject: IEEE 802 - NIST SHA-1 Transition Letter
To: Peter Yee <peter@xxxxxxxxxx>, Karen Randall <karen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, Dorothy Stanley <dstanley1389@xxxxxxxxx>Dear Dorothy, Karen, and Peter,
Happy New Year! NIST developed a plan to move away from SHA-1 for all applications, that is, not only digital signatures but also other functions such as HMAC, KDF, etc. We are trying to approach different standards organizations to bring awareness and see if there is any issue to implement the plan. Attached is a letter NIST generated.
IEEE 802 is a large committee and includes many different subcommittees. I would like to ask your help to reach them. It will be a great help if you have suggestions to distribute the letter and bring the awareness in IEEE 802 community.
Regards,
Lily
