Hi all,
Thanks for the questions and discussion during the presentation 11/2204r0 Dynamic Subband Operation (https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/22/11-22-2204-00-0uhr-dynamic-subband-operation.pptx) in the UHR SG call.
We could not get through all the questions that were there in the queue. Please share them as a reply to this email.
Below are responses to some of the questions that were raised in the meeting and on the chat window:
Chunyu: What about cases where the primary channel is busy
This proposal is to allow for utilization of secondary parts of the bandwidth when the primary channel is also acquired by the AP and when the non-AP supports a smaller bandwidth than what is supported by the AP. Such utilization requires less coordination between the AP and non-AP and it suffices to have a subband switch indication sent on the primary channel.
We can also enable utilization of secondary parts of the bandwidth when the primary channel is busy and including cases where the AP operating bandwidth is higher than the non-AP operating bandwidth. For that, more refined mechanisms to indicate the switch are necessary. We had pursued this in 11be for some time (https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/20/11-20-0363-03-00be-proposals-on-unused-bandwidth-utilizations.pptx ). We intend to pursue this again in UHR as a part of “0034r Non-primary Channel Utilization”.
Yunbo: The switch from primary part of the bandwidth to the secondary part may take much longer than O(100) us
The non-AP would need some capabilities to support this feature in terms of reasonable delays to switch from the primary to the secondary part. These capabilities can be added through different kinds of architecture. The cost and power expense of adding them would be much less than that needed for the non-AP supporting reception/transmission over the entire wide bandwidth.
Alfred: Individual TWT can be initiated by the AP
What is meant here is that the individual TWT cannot always be enforced by the AP. It can be established only if the non-AP initiates it with its acceptable parameters or if the non-AP agrees to use the parameters sent by the AP in an unsolicited TWT response.
Regards,
Sindhu
