[STDS-802-11] 答复: [STDS-802-11] VISA INFORMATION: 802_1124_Instructions From IRCC_Entry Application for an Approved Event

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the consideration. I echo what Sindhu says. Same thing here, I applied the Visa since April. The response is very slow and only offers to keep me waiting TBD time or withdraw of my application after I submitted webforms. I also hope IEEE 802 can consider a location which is more efficient and reliable regarding Visa application in future.

Hi Jon,

Thanks a lot for this information. I want to acknowledge all the help you, Lisa and others provide proactively and also whenever requested.

As you know, despite all that help, I have not received my Canada visa, even though I applied for it 3½ months ago. I have tried to reach out to the Canadian IRCC, but emails and webform submissions have been unanswered and they do not have a call center for correspondence.  I am unsure if the approval will come in time for the Vancouver meeting in November. As part of my work, I have made 50+trips to many different countries (but not to Canada) and this is the first time I didn’t receive a visa.

So, I wanted to request you and others to consider the ease of visa availability as a factor while deciding future meeting venues. Given the profile of 802.11 delegates, only a small percentage may require visas. However, even those delegates may be actively involved in various task groups and not being able to attend in person due to visa unavailability harms their professional roles.

Thanks,

Sindhu

During the 802.11 Closing plenary today in Montreal, we had a discussion on the steps we (802) had taken to help people get their required VISAs to attend Sessions in Canada.

The instructions below will aid those trying to get a VISA to enter Canada.

Note: Registration for the 2024 November IEEE 802 Plenary Session - Hyatt Regency Vancouver, Vancouver, BC, Canada is targeted to open the first week of August.  Please note that following the instructions completely will aid you in the process of obtaining your VISA.

As Soon as the Registration is open, we will start to submit the permitted information to the appropriate Government office in Canada.

Kind regards,

Jon

HI Jon and James,

This is an information update for the 2024 November IEEE 802 Plenary Session.

I have attached a copy of the official entry documentation instruction letter from IRCC for individuals attending an approved event in Canada.

This letter (and the IRCC event code) is available to all individuals who have paid the registration fee and elected to  receive a 'Visa Letter' as part of their registration for the event.

I wanted you both to be aware of the clause I have included in the body of the email.

This clause spells out how the event code provided by IRCC is to be used and how it helps to streamline the process by grouping applications using the code into a shared processing pool that is assigned to our event.

I wanted you both to be aware as I feel many of our attendees who were planning to attend the July session may not have followed these guidelines and instructions resulting in documentation delays and remote participation.
