Hi Jon, My colleague and I have worse experiences than the previous commenters, he was refused in the visa application to Canada, and I also refused in the visa application
for the coming September meeting in the USA, moreover, I was denied to enter USA with valid visa during the Hawaii meeting last November. Best regards Xiandong

Hi Jon, I have the similar experience as Ross and Sindhu , I'm still in the background verification procedure with the status equal to "security" after I submitted my Canadian VISA application
3 months ago. Google told me I need to wait for the security investigation from CBSA,RCMP and CSIS in the following 6 months--2 years, and then IRCC can decide whether I can obtain my Canadian VISA. Personally. I give up to submit any webform to IRCC as it's
beyond IRCC duty. Also,I doubt whether you or other IEEE officer can help to convince 4 Canadian government departments to approve this in serials. I believe I will miss Vancouver meeting in-person in November definitely. Based on that, I suspect I'm suffering from the "political persecution" from Canadian government although I don't nothing to Canada and Canadian citizens. I will continue to comment on this in the subsequent WG closing meeting. BTW, may I suggest to consider some VISA-free venues in the future, like Hainan, China? Travelers from the 59 visa free entry eligible countries including USA and Canada may travel
from or through Hong Kong or any other places outside Mainland China with a direct flight to Hainan. The maximum length of stay for visa free travelers in Hainan is 30 days. see it via the link: Hainan

答复: [STDS-802-11] VISA INFORMATION: 802_1124_Instructions From IRCC _Entry Application for an Approved Event --- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector --- Hi Jon, Thanks for the consideration. I echo what Sindhu says. Same thing here, I applied the Visa since April. The response is very slow and only offers to keep me waiting
TBD time or withdraw of my application after I submitted webforms . I also hope IEEE 802 can consider a location which is more efficient and reliable regarding Visa application in future. regards 于健 Ross Jian Yu

Hi Jon, Thanks a lot for this information. I want to acknowledge all the help you, Lisa and others provide proactively and also whenever
requested. As you know, despite all that help, I have not received my Canada visa, even though I applied for it 3½ months ago. I have tried
to reach out to the Canadian IRCC , but emails and webform submissions have been unanswered and they do not have a call center for correspondence. I am unsure if the approval will come in time for the Vancouver meeting in November. As part of my work, I have
made 50+trips to many different countries (but not to Canada) and this is the first time I didn’t receive a visa. So, I wanted to request you and others to consider the ease of visa availability as a factor while deciding future meeting venues.
Given the profile of 802.11 delegates, only a small percentage may require visas. However, even those delegates may be actively involved in various task groups and not being able to attend in person due to visa unavailability harms their professional roles. Thanks, Sindhu
